Stanley McFee

Stanley McFee, 87, formerly of Chappell, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025, in Omaha, NE.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, June 21, 2025 at the Chappell Methodist Church with Pastor Riaan Nel officiating. Burial will follow in the Chappell Cemetery.

Stanley Gene McFee was born on February 9, 1938, in Julesburg Colorado the eldest son to Donald and Evelyn (Kinnie) McFee.

Stanley would become a man of many accomplishments beginning as a young boy. Growing up on his family farm north of Chappell, Ne. He attended elementary school in Chappell. He participated in many activities as a young man including the Methodist youth group, Future Farmers of America, and the Boy Scouts of America where he began as a boy scout, and continued until reaching the highest honor, which, was being ranked an Eagle Scout. This being a true testament to his determination and leadership skills. Stan would continue his academic career in Chappell graduating from Deuel County Highschool in 1956. He received academic achievement all four years. Excelling in sports throughout his high school career lettering in Track and Field his sophomore and senior years, as well as earning himself a position on the relay team running both the 1600 M and the 400M at the state track meet all 3 years. He would place 1st, both sophomore and senior years in these events. Stan played football at the Varsity level starting as a sophomore continuing through his senior year. Lettering all three years and being named Football Captain his senior year.

Before leaving for college in the fall, Stan, along with his younger brother David, would take their combines and their first harvest crew to Oklahoma for the summer.

Stanley began his college education enrolled at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln. He was a member of the University track team and an active member of Theta -Chi fraternity. It was during his junior year he met his future wife.

On August 28, 1961, Stanley McFee and Janis Colling were united into marriage at the United Methodist Church in Wahoo, NE. To this union three children would be born: two sons, Scott David and Brett Patrick, and one daughter, Dana Lynne.

After graduating from Nebraska Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Science Degree, Stanley and his family would reside in Omaha where he was employed with Strasenburgh Pharmaceuticals, as a company sales representative. While in Omaha, Stan was an active member of the Masons charter.

In 1973, Stan returned to Chappell to farm alongside his father. In 1976, Stan cofounded the areas first and only Alanon meetings for those who suffered from the disease of alcoholism. He would travel around the area helping wherever he could. He was an active member of the Julesburg Gun Club where he would spend time every week shooting Blue Rock along with his closest friends. Stanley remained active in the community where he would continue supporting the Chappell Buffalos high school football team for many years to come, rarely ever missing a game.

Stan remained in Chappell running the family farm until 1994 when he made the decision to retire and move closer to where his children and grandchildren resided. Stan was able to enjoy fishing trips, and countless hunting trips with his son, and grandson. Stanley had many hobbies. They included hunting, fishing, woodworking, gardening and reading anything pertaining to American History, and Harry Potter Novels.

Stanley McFee brought joy wherever he went, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him. He had a knack for making people smile with his wit, and sharp sense of humor. Known for his kindness, and thoughtfulness, he always had time to lend a helping hand or share a wise word of encouragement. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his son: Scott (Kristian)McFee Omaha NE, Brett (Amanda) McFee Lincoln NE, and Donald McFee Glenwood IA; daughter, Dana McFee (Tom) Omaha NE; grandchildren: Derek (Jen), Brittney (Nick), Zachary (Yulia), Amber, Erin, and Dakota; great grandchildren: Sage, Dally, Audrey, Briar, Evan, Max and Bentlee.
